Toby Donica | Cinematographer

Hi, I’m Toby Donica — a U.S. Army Veteran turned Cinematographer, Actor, and Grip with a lifelong love for storytelling. Growing up in San Angelo, Texas, I was always drawn to the outdoors and to capturing life’s moments, whether through writing imaginative stories or shooting with my first 35mm black-and-white film camera. Those early creative sparks never left me.
After serving in the Army, I spent years traveling the globe through the oil and gas industry, from Singapore to Argentina. Those experiences shaped my perspective and gave me a deeper appreciation for people and places — something I now bring into every frame I shoot and every character I step into on screen.
In 2015, I leaned fully into my passion for film. Since then, I’ve written award-winning scripts, studied Digital Cinematography at Full Sail University, and worked both behind the camera and on set. My background includes projects like 1923, Lioness, and Landman, where I’ve contributed as a background actor and supported crews as a grip, all while refining my craft as a cinematographer.
Whether I’m behind the lens, stepping into a role, or helping the team make movie magic happen, my focus is always on telling authentic stories with heart and grit.
I’m always open to new collaborations, projects, and creative opportunities. If you’re looking for someone who’s passionate, reliable, and ready to bring your vision to life, let’s connect!
